Terremotos

Earthquakes: Plate Tectonics and Earthquake Hazards
By Timothy, Ph.D. Kusky

Description:

Every day parts of the surface of the Earth are rattled by earthquake tremors, and occasionally, some regions are shaken violently during earthquakes, resulting in widespread damage and destruction. Earthquakes in Iran, Turkey, and Japan have demonstrated how the motion of the Earth's tectonic plates can suddenly make apparently safe environments dangerous and even deadly."Earthquakes" focuses on the furious power of nature unleashed and the massive devastation that is often a result of the relentless forces that build up within the Earth. Presenting the main ideas of plate tectonics, this comprehensive and insightful reference provides readers with an understanding of how, why, and where most earthquakes occur. Coverage includes what happens during an earthquake, using many examples of hazards such as landslides, passage of seismic-earthquake waves through the ground, and other phenomena that people have encountered during real earthquakes. Black-and-white photographs and line illustrations, an index, a glossary, and a geologic timescale enhance this in-depth resource.Chapters include: General Earth Structure and Plate Tectonics; Divergent Plate Boundaries; Transform Plate Boundaries and Transform Faults; Convergent Margins; Earthquakes; Earthquake Hazards; Earthquake Prediction, Preparation, and Response; and, Descriptions of Earthquake Disasters.

Earthquake Early Warning Systems
By Paolo Gasparini, Gaetano Manfredi, Jochen Zschau

Description:

During the past few decades, economic losses and human casualties due to natural disasters increased exponentially on our planet, mainly because of the increased density of population and industry in high hazard areas. Although the prediction of earthquakes is not practicable yet, the present technology allows a prompt identification of the onset of any dangerous seismic event before it hits an urban area. Earthquake early warning can provide an alert within a few tens of seconds in advance. This small lead time may be used to minimize property damage and loss of lives in metropolitan areas and to aid emergency response. The book provides information on the major EEW systems in operation and on the state of the art of the different blocks forming an EW system: the rapid detection and estimation of the earthquake s focal parameters, the signal transmission, the engineering interface and the information reliability/false alarm problem.

Fault-Zone Properties and Earthquake Rupture Dynamics
By Eiichi Fukuyama

Description:

The dynamics of the earthquake rupture process are closely related to fault zone properties which the authors have intensively investigated by various observations in the field as well as by laboratory experiments. These include geological investigation of the active and fossil faults, physical and chemical features obtained by the laboratory experiments, as well as the seismological estimation from seismic waveforms. Earthquake dynamic rupture can now be modeled using numerical simulations on the basis of field and laboratory observations, which should be very useful for understanding earthquake rupture dynamics.

Features:

* First overview of new and improved techniques in the study of earthquake faulting

* Broad coverage

* Full color

Benefits:

* A must-have for all geophysicists who work on earthquake dynamics

* Single resource for all aspects of earthquake dynamics (from lab measurements to seismological observations to numerical modelling)

* Bridges the disciplines of seismology, structural geology and rock mechanics

* Helps readers to understand and interpret graphs and maps

Also has potential use as a supplementary resource for upper division and graduate geophysics courses.

Hello there,

Thanks for sharing this link - but unfortunately it seems to be down? Does anybody here at geolibros.blogspot.com have a mirror or another source?

Thanks,

I've ever liked things like sand clocks, lava lamps, and the like to type of just dish out space staring at it as a form of catharsis. In a route, it helps me with meditation, to free stress and decent deem just about nothing. That's why since I was a kid, in place of of dolls and cars I've in any case collected more of such pieces like sand clocks, lava lamps, dulcet boxes etc. So I was most enchanted when I establish the 2-Laser + LED Inconsiderable Appear Laser Outstrip Gyroscope with Music Effects from DealtoWorld.com under the aegis the Toys section. It's like a musical belt, a spinning head, and a moonlight reveal all rolled into one. Which is capacious amusement! The gyroscope will outing object of round a minute. The laser enlightenment manifest with accompanying music makes this gyroscope a rather incomparable fiddle with that my friends have also been most amused with.

My dogs are also pretty curious around the laser gyroscope I got from DealtoWorld.com. They unceasingly occupy oneself with the gyroscope as it spins, although at earliest they kept barking at the laser insight advertise, and also because it produces music. But after they got tempered to it, they've stopped barking but due save up following the gyroscope whenever I start spinning it. Kids are also unbelievably amused nearby it. Occasionally it's good to have diverting toys around the ancestry so that you can go away the small on while the kids are being amused or playing with it while you live fit out foodstuffs or fall heir to changed. The gyroscope is unified such trinket with this purpose.

The gyroscope I bought from DealtoWorld.com has a dragon as a intent plot on it, and produces a gegenschein accompany with red, obscene, and green colours. Pit oneself against a look at the pictures I've uploaded of the gyroscope with laser incandescence show. The music produced from the gyroscope is not that great but allowable adequacy to consider any new roomer to the house. The gyroscope is red and jet-black, making it look very coolth, and slightly macho with that dragon imprint.

The music luminescence plain gyroscope runs on 6 LR44 batteries, which are replaceable anyway. I've also used this gyroscope to their heels my girlfriend during our anniversary celebration. I did the cheesy thing of decorating the hostelry elbow-room with roses and when I led her in, I started up the gyroscope as correctly so that the laser torchlight show produces a ideal effect. I also had some battery operated candles so all the light effects created a slightly romantic atmosphere. She loved it, past the style, to my relief. I also bought the candles from DealtoWorld.com. These days it seems to be my oversight shopping site in favour of all gifts and ideas in support of romantic occasions.

Since Christmas is coming, this laser light make clear gyroscope can possibly be a superb Christmas contribution looking for the toddler or in spite of the humour! Alternatively, the gyroscope can absolutely be a polite summation to the traditional Christmas decorations. I can presume placing it near the Christmas tree and perchance spinning it when guests arrive in the house. Looks like DealtoWorld.com is getting my duty yet again!
